The KeyTrain basic skills training is currently being used to help satisfy the NCLB and upcoming IDEA requirements for educational assistants, preparing them in reading, writing and math to sit for the WorkKeys Assessment. This program can be used for anyone wanting to refresh basic reading, writing, and math skills. Each occupation has a set standard for scoring in these areas based on job profiling.

The Science of Communications

Time Management for Classified

This training will be designed for each group of classified so it matches their needs. Learn how to maximize your time and workload by letting the work talk to you! Using the Make a Plan (MAP) system, learn how to focus on tasks and identify wasted time in old work habits.

Office Support (Clerical)

Updated! Best Practices for Student Records. This class will bring you up-to-date on the best practices for managing student records including what records are to be kept and for how long, required content and methods of release; records confidentiality and accessibility; to whom records can be released; when and what to transfer, the right to challenge, and updates on records required by the No Child Left Behind reporting and much more. 

Front Desk Challenges with Results

You are in a highly visible role of being a receptionist, office support, registrar, or secretary. People will see you and think you are only there to take care of their needs.  You will have an opportunity to visit about what goes on in your worksite with your contemporaries. You will learn strategies that will help you be your own advocate, manage time around chaos, and other survival tips.

Strategies for Students Who Learn Differently

Each of us is unique in the way we learn and process information.  Our personal evolution has directed how we connect, how we are taught, and the process of our learning.  Learn various strategies for working with skilled and academically challenged students.  Bring your ideas and best practices to share with others in the class.

Being Assertive and Using Affirmations You Can Be Empowered

This class helps demure EA’s have more self confidence in the classroom. Spread your wings by learning teaching techniques that help encourage learning in diverse classrooms.

Supporting Building Blocks to Self Esteem

What do children need to grow toward that adult that likes herself and others?  How do we help students feel confident about their skills and interactions with others?  Learn about Maslow’s staircase of needs for high self-esteem and how you can help meet these basic needs for your students.  Learn how to give praise kids can use.  Learn how to listen to a child’s inner reality and emotion.

Teaching Support and Instructional Guidance for Educational Assistants

Many Educational Assistants working in schools have not been given the basics of instruction for teaching support from teachers and most assuredly not techniques of instructional guidance for children. This class offers an opportunity to review best practices in each of these techniques and an opportunity for participants to have a conversation with peers about how they conduct their duties, overcoming challenges, and celebrating what they do well.

Working with Students with Behavioral Challenges 

This workshop discusses what emotional disturbances are and from where they stem.  Discusses characteristics of emotional and behavioral problems and effective strategies for working with students who have behavioral and emotional challenges.

Custodial/Grounds/Trades/Maintenance

Boiler Operator Training Program - Certified Training

This training covers basic understanding of different types of boilers, safety and operational controls, water treatment fundamentals, and combustion and efficiency testing.  Boiler operation targets the use of boiler logs. Each participant will receive a copy of the course training manual and certification.

Lift Certification

Certified training for forklift, scissor lift, and other lifts that includes classroom instruction and on site demonstration of lifts.  OSHA approved instructor.

Indoor Air Quality: EPA and DEQ Approved

Are we making our kids sick? Learn why it is important to monitor your buildings for the quality of air students are subjected to. Each participant will receive a kit to take back to their building to start the conversation with a team to help keep on top of the environment students are being exposed to!

Lead Person Skills in the Workplace

Learn how to communicate effectively, and how to give direction, praise, and constructive criticism of another person’s work.

People Skills

As a lead person it is important to know how to interact with the people you are working with and to help them be the best they can be.  Learn some of the most exciting coaching methods to help with maintaining a pleasant work environment and increase productivity in the workplace.

On-the-Job Training

Are you responsible for on-the-job training?  What better way to leave a legacy than to become a trainer! If you have been assigned as a mentor or coach this is the class for you. Learn how to communicate with your students giving instructions and feedback in a constructive way. Trainers need to exercise patience, to instruct and observe to ensure new employees understand the process and are successful in fulfilling their position.

Classroom Training
