Current MIP Numbers

Editors Note: The membership chart published in the November-December 2019 Journal had incorrect November membership percentages for eight chapters (Centennial, Central, Central Linn, Central Oregon Community College-ABS, Clackamas County Children’s Commission, Classified Personnel of Klamath Falls, Clatskanie and Clatsop Community College). Click here for a chart with all of the correct percentages.

As of the November 2018 field report, OSEA had 139 dues-paying chapters representing 22,628 employees, including 15,878 members and a statewide membership rate of 70.2 percent. There were 97 chapters on track to receive a Membership Incentive Program (MIP) check at the end of the fiscal year: 17 chapters so far qualify for a 10 percent incentive, 50 for 5 percent and 30 for 3 percent.

We designed MIP to encourage chapter leaders to take an active role in promoting the union through membership drives and one-on-one conversations.

If your chapter wants to conduct a membership drive, click the link to email OSEA Director of Organizing Richard Ramirez or call 800-252-6732.

The incentive can be used in any way authorized by the chapter’s governing documents. Some ideas for using the money include funding membership drives, chapter-building events, emergency assistance and scholarship programs, as well as sending delegates to Conference.

The incentive will be paid before May 31, 2019, and the chapter will be notified once the payment has been processed.

The chapter’s achievement will also be recognized at our annual Conference in June.

The current numbers can be found here.
