Vice President
BONNIE LUISI
As number six in a family with 12 kids, Bonnie Luisi learned people skills at a very young age. Although she was born in North Dakota, Bonnie grew up in Prosser, Washington. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Hermiston where she has lived ever since. Married 22 years with two children, Bonnie currently works at Sandstone Middle School in the special education department, which serves over 100 special education students.
When she was first hired by the school district nine years ago, Bonnie had very little to do with the union. Raised with the belief that unions were bad for a business, Bonnie didn’t seek to become involved until a friend, who was an OSEA Building Representative, encouraged her to attend a Chapter meeting.
At the meeting, Bonnie learned that what they were talking about concerned her. She started to attend more meetings and, eventually, became the Chapter Secretary and then Chapter President.
After an intense battle with breast cancer, Bonnie rose to become the Zone VII Director. Then she accepted the position of State Vice President, a position she was re-elected to by the 2004 and 2006 Conference delegates.
