Zone II Director
LINDA RAY
Born in Deadwood, South Dakota, with a father and mother who both held positions in public education, Linda Ray grew up surrounded by education.
After she received her bachelor’s degree in education, Linda moved to Beaverton, Oregon, to work as a speech therapist. After six years, she decided to devote her time to raising her two sons. While working at home as a full-time mom, she volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. Her involvement led to a position as a district executive for the organization for eight years. Afterwards, Linda had planned to return to school, but she was waylaid by breast cancer.
In February 1997, after winning her battle with cancer, Linda was hired to a full-time position as an educational assistant for the Reynolds School District. By the fall of 1997, Linda had volunteered to be an OSEA BER/Steward and assisted in the candidate interviews. By 2000, she was Chapter President. She joined and led state committees, participated in two AACSE Legislative Conferences, and was a part of the OSEA Congressional Network. For Linda, her involvement with OSEA has been a “natural progression” and the 2004 Conference took her up to the State Board when delegates voted her in as Zone II Director.
