Zone IV Director
JILL SIMMONS
An Oregonian for over 40 years, Jill Simmons grew up in the small town of Coburg, just outside of Eugene. With two grown sons, Jill enjoys what little spare time she has to camp and read.
Jill began her career in the Eugene School District on October 1, 1979, as a file clerk. She then became the office manager for the Special Education Department, a position she held for 19 years before joining the Computer Information Services (CIS) Department as a management assistant. As an assistant, Jill works with a district director to enforce policies, manage budgets, and oversee district offices.
When Jill first started working for the district, she didn’t know much about the union until a situation with a new administration showed Jill the value of having union representation. Throughout the following years, Jill volunteered what time she could to OSEA on local committees and on the Chapter Executive Board serving as Vice President and President.
Then, in September 2003, Jill was asked to consider filling the Zone IV Director position, which had become vacant. After careful consideration, Jill accepted the position. Then, at the 2004 and 2006 Conferences, delegates elected Jill to the position of Zone IV Director.
