"This is going to be a very important meeting as we learn about the benefits of being an AFT affiliate."said OSEA President Merlene Martin. "It will include member benefits and Chapter leader benefits. We will also have a presentation on the state insurance pooling from the Deputy Administrator of the Oregon Educators Benefit Board, along with information regarding the Oregon Health Fund Board from Maribeth Healey. We will also take a look at our OSEA membership and the growth that is possible within our Chapters."

A networking/training program designed and implemented by OSEA leaders, Presidents' Council provides an open forum and ideal training ground for Chapter Presidents pertaining to current issues, trends, and organizational direction.

Presidents’ Council is held twice a year, during OSEA’s Annual Conference and in March. The program is primarily for OSEA Chapter Presidents; we do encourage future Chapter Presidents to attend as well as other interested members.

There will be a closed VIP meeting between OSEA’s State President and Chapter Presidents, where issues specific to presidents are discussed; all other participants are provided a parallel session with topics specific to those who are not presidents.

The Presidents’ Council program was adopted at the 2001 OSEA Annual Conference.

Information
Chapter Presidents should plan in advance to attend Presidents’ Council, information about available housing and other pertinent information can be obtained though the OSEA Salem Office.
