"I feel empowered to effect change and help others do the same!" said Gail Martyn from St. Helens Chapter 31 who attended MOSI 2007 in Salem. Like Gail, OSEA members who attend MOSI are excited about using what they learn.
Make sure you don't miss your chance to attend MOSI 2008!
The Member Organizing Summer Institute (MOSI) program is geared specifically for the Chapter and its organizing needs. We can train your members in organizing skills that will support Chapter activities. These members will be trained to support Chapter Executive Boards as we move into an era of Chapter building.
Annual MOSI training will consist of a three-day intensive program on basic organizing skills for Chapter building and the basics of campaign planning. The training will provide the member with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist their Chapter in any range of organizing activities.
The main responsibility of the member trained in organizing will be to support the Chapter Executive Board as an organizing resource and to develop and lead campaigns as well as motivate and mobilize Chapter members.
MOSI training topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Campaign Elements of the Organizing Model
- The Planning Process
- Chapter Action Teams
- How to Assess Campaigns and Individuals Within a
Campaign
- Charting and Assessing the Membership
- Mobilizing at the Chapter Level: Why and How
- Identifying, Assessing, and Recruiting Leaders and Volunteers
- Building Solidarity at the Chapter Level
- Chapter Communications
- Chapter Assessments and Developing Strategies
- Expect the Unexpected, the Anti-Campaign
Your chapter is encouraged to submit an application for MOSI 2008.
