According to an article in The Oregonian, Social Security benefits will increase 2.3 percent or an average $24 monthly for 50 million Americans in January 2008—an amount that may not match the prices increases retirees are paying for their health care, heating, transportation, and food. Drug-Resistant Staph
For years, we’ve been warned of the growing threat posed by drug-resistant bacteria. A new study shows a virulent strain of bacteria that resists many antibiotics appears to be killing more people annually than AIDS, emphysema or homicide. Click here for more information.


ABOUT ROSE

OSEA’s program for retired OSEA members; ROSE is designed to look out for the rights and benefits of retired OSEA members. ROSE is committed to the continued support of OSEA though activism and participation. 

ROSE Purpose:

1. To meet the interests and needs of OSEA’s retired
members.

2. To provide opportunities for retired members to remain
active while utilizing their talents and expertise in helping
to support OSEA’s overall programs.

3. To work with local OSEA Chapters to provide volunteers
in assisting with mentoring, mobilizing, and other chapter
activities.

4. To enable retirees to remain aware of PERS and
legislative measures affecting retiree issues.

5. To become recognized and participate among other
retired organizations, both nationally and statewide.

6. To communicate OSEA information among retired OSEA
members.

ROSE is set up to provide assistance and communications throughout OSEA, there are seven ROSE Coordinators, one in each of the seven OSEA Zones along with a ROSE Liaison who reports to the OSEA State President and the Board of Directors.

ROSE arranges opportunities for ROSE members to interact by hosting regional meetings, social activities, and volunteer projects. Contact the local Retiree Coordinator for more info.


Membership Dues
The cost for ROSE membership is $15 for a single person and $20 for a couple per year.
