Your Advocate at the Legislature

Metzger brings over a decade of union and public policy experience to the job along with an up-close understanding of OSEA’s members and their needs. As an AFT government relations organizer, she worked with now-retired Government Relations Specialist Tricia Smith during the 2012 campaign and 2013 legislative session. She engaged OSEA members to build effective Congressional Network Teams and Legislative Network Teams (CNT/LNT) and provided support for the 2012 Temporary Campaign Workers program.

As an OSEA organizer, she led membership drives and First Book events while developing curriculum for the Worksite Organizer and Member Organizing Summer Institute (MOSI) programs.

“Making life better for working families is my passion,” Metzger said. “We need policies that support the vital work performed by OSEA members and the students they serve. I am excited to be an advocate for labor and education in Oregon.”

Her political experience extends to California, where she managed political programs for Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1000 in Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties. She is also a former program manager for the Oregon Foster Youth Connection, leading hundreds of volunteers.

Metzger holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University-East Bay and a bachelor’s degree in government from CSU-Sacramento.
