Workshops — Open to all members. Choose the one that best fits your interest and sign up on the Conference Registration Form (PDF).

  • Retiree Workshop: (Sponsored by ROSE) Are you considering retirement? Do you have questions about PERS, Social Security and/or Medicare? This workshop will include information that will help you learn how to navigate through the retirement process.
  • Chapter Leadership: This workshop provides information on the duties and responsibilities of being a chapter officer, addresses chapter governance issues, reviews the structure and history of OSEA, reviews member priorities and expectations, identifies OSEA resources available to chapters and stresses the importance of relationships between chapter officers and OSEA staff.
  • What’s Up? Be the Change – An Introduction to Restorative Practices: Every day we’re in conversations about what’s going on and living in a time where change is being discussed and imagined. Hear how restorative practices connects and is used to cultivate a real sense of community, provide wellness, safety and center equity in many ways. We’ll also cover the role of Restorative Justice Conferencing within the framework.
  • How to Celebrate Members: A collection of fun ideas, stories, examples of membership celebrations and fun ways to reach out and connect with potential members. Learn from your fellow OSEA members best practices for membership drives, new hire orientations, chapter gatherings, pizza and solidarity nights, and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to network with other amazing OSEA members and bring back some insights to your own chapter.
  • AFT Member Benefits: AFT + Member Benefits add value to union membership and save member’s money. AFT + Benefits are a great icebreaker to have that organizing conversation and give you another reason to reach out and talk with your fellow members. This workshop will give you information on the benefit programs, show you how to get additional information and spark ideas on how to use the benefits in your chapter.
  • The Power of Our Union – Your Worker Story: In the state Capitol, corporate lobbyists outnumber union representatives 10 to 1. As an OSEA member, sharing your story changes decision-makers’ hearts and minds. We will learn how to strengthen your storytelling skills to create better policies that protect and support Oregon’s classified employees. If you want to build your communication and public speaking skills, this workshop is for you!
