Section 1 - The President shall:
- Preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors and each Annual or special Conference of the Association;
- Arrange for and schedule at least 1 meeting of the Board of Directors each quarter of the fiscal year;
- Prepare an agenda for each regular or special meeting of the Board of Directors for distribution to all members and members of the Board of Directors at least 5 days prior to the meeting date;
- Appoint such committees as are required by the Constitution and as may be directed by the Board of Directors or delegates to the Annual Conference with the advice and consent of the Board of Directors;
- Be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Election Committee;
- Enforce strict adherence to all provisions of the Constitution and written policies of the Association and parliamentary procedures as appropriate;
- Supervise the work of the Executive Director;
- Oversee the editing, publishing and distribution of the Association’s official publication and postings on the official website;
- Maintain a continuous study of problems confronting the Association and keep the membership informed of the status and/or results of such studies;
- Represent the Association as a designated delegate at any convention or conference of any affiliated organization except the AACSE;
- Perform such other duties as normally pertain to the office of President.
Section 2 - The Vice President shall:
- During the absence or disability of the President serve as the President possessing all the powers and performing the duties of the President in their stead;
- Perform specific duties as directed by the President or the Board of Directors;
- Represent the Association as a designated delegate to the AFT National Convention and the Oregon AFL-CIO Convention;
- Perform such other duties as normally pertain to the office of Vice President.
Section 3 - The Secretary shall:
- Record and transcribe minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and cause same to be published and distributed in accordance with Association policy;
- Record and transcribe the minutes of all official proceedings of any Annual or special Conference of the Association and cause same to be approved by the Board of Directors and published in accordance with Association policy;
- Represent the Association as a designated delegate to the AFT National Convention and the Oregon AFL-CIO Convention;
- Perform such other duties as normally pertain to the office of Secretary.
Section 4 - The Zone Director shall:
- Represent the statewide membership and membership in their respective zone on matters impacting such members;
- Serve as the link between the zone membership and resources and benefits available through the Association and its affiliates;
- Schedule, plan and facilitate zone meetings and training as required or requested;
- Facilitate and chair official zone caucus meetings at each Annual or special Conference;
- Make recommendations to the President and the Board of Directors for the appointment of central labor chapter/council (CLC) delegates and Assistant Zone Directors;
- Represent the Association as a designated delegate to the Oregon AFL-CIO Convention;
- Perform such other duties as normally pertain to the office of Zone Director. Assistant Zone Directors shall be appointed on an as needed basis by the Board of Directors upon recommendation of the appropriate Zone Director from among the chapter members within the zone in which they are to serve. Under the direction of the Zone Director, they are to coordinate and implement approved programs in the chapters within their respective zones.
Section 5 - The Past President shall:
- Serve as counselor to the Board of Directors and as the Board’s confidential resource on recent Association matters and history of OSEA;
- Attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and other meetings and/or functions of the Association as may be required by the President and/or the Board of Directors;
- perform such other duties as normally pertain to the position of Past President.
