Calling all creative classified for our Classified School Employees Week (CEW) 2025 celebration concept contest! The champion will claim cash!
CEW highlights the vital role classified educators play in Oregon’s education system.
“This is our time to shine, classified!” OSEA President Sarah Wofford said. “We work hard all year long, so for the first week of March, Oregon celebrates us!”
In 2023, OSEA successfully advocated for CEW to be officially recognized by the state. In 2025, the second year it is observed under Oregon statute, CEW will run from March 3rd through March 7th.
Each year we hold a contest to choose a theme for our statewide CEW festivities. The theme should showcase the essential contributions of classified school employees. Last year’s theme was “Classified are the Hidden Treasures Within Our Schools,” submitted by Silvia Lopez of North Clackamas Chapter 71. In previous years, themes have ranged from “Classified... We Make it Work, with Class!” and “Leadership, Effectiveness, Advocacy, Diplomacy (LEAD).”
The OSEA Public Relations Committee, chaired by Alison Celsi of Clackamas County Children’s Commission (CCCC) Head Start Chapter 601, will choose the top three themes to recommend to the Board of Directors, who has the final say on this year’s theme.
The member who submits the winning theme will receive a cash prize of $250! The CEW theme contest will open right after Thanksgiving, so get those creative juices flowing now. Your entry should include an explanation of your thought process and some ideas of how your theme could translate into party decorations and/or appreciation events around the state.
