Here’s to Another Year of Solidarity

Sarah Wofford
OSEA President

Hello, OSEA siblings, and welcome to the new school year! I hope you are as energized as I am to work together again this year.

OSEA members are amazing. We have already accomplished so much: from the bargaining table to the State Capitol, we showed the world that together, OSEA members are unstoppable. In this issue of the Journal, you’ll find a report on our legislative wins from last spring – proof, if we ever needed it, that OSEA changes lives for the better.

You’ll also find a recap of Conference 2023, along with photos, videos and more. While I have been to many Conferences, this was my first as president. If you were part of this amazing event, thank you! The work we do at Conference is vital – not just the business of resolutions and elections, but the time we spend together. At Conference, we build community and friendships, making OSEA so much more than a union; we are a family. Thank you to every member who joined us, and I hope to see even more of you at Conference 2024 next June.

As fun as it is to reflect on all we did together last year, I am even more excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work with you. I recently got together with the rest of the Board of Directors for our annual retreat. We did some great work to lay plans for the year ahead. We will continue to focus on strengthening our union through organizing. After such an amazing year of wins, we have a unique opportunity to build on that momentum. Chapter leaders, watch for more information coming soon!

OSEA members, you are rockstars and champions. There is no group of people I would rather stand with every day. If you are a new member or a longtime OSEA veteran, thank you for sharing your unique sparkle with us. You are part of a constellation of union superstars shining together and making the world a brighter place. Here’s to another year of strength and solidarity!
