Labor Day is our day! For 130 years, we've been celebrating American worker power on the first Monday in September. The holiday was born out of demonstrations of worker anger and worker strength across the country as employees demanded safety, reasonable hours and fair wages during the Industrial Revolution. Today, we stand on the shoulders of those workers who came before, but we still fight for the same things: safety in our workplaces, living wages, benefits and fair scheduling practices.
We are celebrating our union family this Labor Day with a booth at the Northwest Oregon Labor Council's annual picnic in Canby. There will be food, crafts and farmers markets, games for kids, bounce houses and live music performed by union musicians!
