Ask and you shall receive: Conference will look a little different this year as OSEA updates our programming to respond to delegate feedback and ensure all chapters are able to participate fully.
Conference is a great opportunity to build community as delegates from far-flung and nearby chapters converge on Portland for three fun and educational days of OSEA bonding. We want delegates to get all the time they can together, so this year, meals will be included for all delegates. The banquet — which includes recognition of OSEA awardees — is moving to Friday night so no one has to chose between celebrating with our union and paying for another night at the hotel. You may still invite a plus one to the banquet, although guests will have to pay for their meal.
Conference workshops are always popular, and delegates have often asked to be able to attend more than one. This year, there will be two workshop sessions to give you more opportunities to learn. We’re also experimenting with even more: panel discussions and trainings covering OSEA’s Work Shouldn’t Hurt campaign, what is happening in right-to-work states and combatting anti-union messaging.
OSEA’s Board of Directors and Conference Committee adjusted the agenda for Conference 2024 based on delegate feedback, with an eye towards accessibility and inclusivity.
“We’re a member-led union, so it’s essential that our events reflect what we, the members, want to see and experience,” said President Sarah Wofford. “I’m excited for Conference 2024 and I think every delegate will find something to love about these changes."
