It is no secret that classified professionals are the backbone of every school in Oregon. Classified School Employees Week (CEW) is a week-long celebration of these dedicated workers and educators. This year, CEW is more significant than ever, thanks to advocacy from OSEA members. The OSEA-backed House Bill (HB) 2708 created a law recognizing CEW during the first full week of March. CEW will be celebrated under Oregon statute for the first time this spring.
You can make our CEW celebrations bigger and better than ever by participating in the $500 CEW theme contest! Between Monday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Jan. 5, submit your idea for a theme for CEW 2024. The member who submits the winning theme will win a cash prize of $500 and see their idea used to celebrate classified across the state!
Submissions should honor classified school employees. The winning theme must help OSEA raise awareness in the community of who classified are, what we do and why it is essential for quality education. All submissions should include:
- A tagline or slogan
- A short description of why you chose this theme and how it celebrates classified
- Two creative ideas for ways chapters, school districts and community members can incorporate the theme into their CEW celebrations
To participate, you must be an active OSEA member in good standing by submitting a completed membership application by Tuesday, Dec. 5.
All submissions will be evaluated by OSEA's public relations committee. The committee will use the winning theme to design a poster for CEW 2024. The winner will be announced at the end of January.
