It is no secret that classified professionals are the backbone of every school in Oregon. Classified School Employees Week (CEW) is a week-long celebration of these dedicated workers and educators. CEW has been celebrated under state law since 2024, thanks to advocacy from OSEA members.
You can make our CEW celebrations bigger and better than ever by participating in the theme contest! Between Monday, Nov. 25th, and Friday, Jan. 3rd, share your theme idea for CEW 2025. If your theme is chosen, you will receive $250, and see your idea used to celebrate classified across the state!
Submissions should honor classified school employees. The winning theme will help OSEA raise awareness in the community of who classified are, what we do and why it is essential for our schools. All submissions should include:
- A tagline or slogan
- A short description of why you chose this theme and how it celebrates classified
- Two creative ideas for ways chapters, school districts and community members can incorporate your theme into their CEW celebrations
You may include an image to go with your idea, but it's not required. (Note: This isn't an art contest. You are welcome to submit a sketch, clip art or any other image that helps explain your idea; it does not have to be polished.)
To participate, you must be an active OSEA member in good standing. If you are not a member yet, complete a membership application at least one month before the contest closes.
Submissions will be evaluated by OSEA's Public Relations Committee, who will submit three finalists to the Board of Directors. The Board will choose a winner at their meeting on Jan. 25th and the winner will be announced in February.
