Description of Event

Worksite organizers (WSO) often get to be the first recognized union member that new employees meet at their worksite! WSOs are the liaison between individual worksites and chapter and state leadership, maintaining the flow of union information to members and non-members alike. One of your key tasks will be to introduce new employees to their union and explain the value of union membership and workplace solidarity.

Other tasks of a worksite organizer include:

  • Providing information about membership and benefits to new employees and non-members, including the chapter contract and other OSEA and chapter details.
  • Regularly updating the OSEA bulletin board and distributing union news.
  • Regularly communicating with chapter leadership and OSEA about your worksite, including updating employee data.
  • Helping employees with union questions, keeping contact information for chapter officers, OSEA offices and OSEA field representative handy, and having copies of the contract, constitution and Weingarten rights ready for when needed.

Please email OSEA Secretary Amanda Wilcox at amanda@osea.org to register.
