Brian Hanson, Field Representative
Brian Hanson is making the move to field representative after being an OSEA member and classified employee for more than 12 years. Members may recognize him as OSEA’s 2021 Employee of the Year. Born in Bend, Ore., and raised as a unionist, Hanson has been a supporter and advocate for labor his entire life. From AFL-CIO picket lines to the school district bargaining table, Brian knows and understands the work classified employees do. He is thrilled to stand up for and represent classified employees throughout the Central Oregon region.

Shawna Meechan, Field Representative
Shawna Meechan comes to OSEA with a lifetime of activism in the labor movement and education. A native of Portland, Ore., she grew up in a union household, went to college on a union scholarship and has fought for the rights of workers most of her adult life. Most recently, Meechan worked for LiUNA! Laborer’s Local 483 representing folks in the Portland metro area. As a former educator, Meechan is looking forward to representing classified staff with OSEA. In her spare time, she enjoys tap dance, gardening and reading fiction.

Emily Pfeiffer, Organizer
Emily Pfeiffer joins the OSEA staff with experience organizing with the Oregon Student Association for three years and organizing campaigns for many members of the Oregon House of Representatives during the 2020 election cycle. Most recently, Pfeiffer worked in Rep. Rob Nosse’s office during the 2021 legislative session. She is very excited to support OSEA members through organizing. In her free time, Pfeiffer loves to read, ride her bike and cook new recipes.
