OSEA Conference 2022 Summary

Conference 2022 came to a close on Saturday evening June 25, following the banquet and induction of the 2022-23 Board of Directors. Many thanks to the delegates who traveled to Portland and dedicated their weekend to the business of our union — Conference couldn’t happen without you!

Please watch for a full summary of Conference 2022 in the fall issue of the Journal. Until then, here are a few highlights:

  • Candidate elections: Delegates voted in elections for president, vice president, secretary and directors for Zones II, IV, VI and VII. The election results are:
    • President: Sarah Wofford of Rogue Community College Chapter 152
    • Vice President: Teri Jones of Coos Bay Chapter 33
    • Secretary: Mary Hofer of Bend-La Pine Chapter 6
    • Zone II Director: April Biancone of North Clackamas Chapter 71
    • Zone IV Director: Sheila Waggoner of Eugene Chapter 1
    • Zone VI Director: Lori Cole of Bend-La Pine Chapter 6
    • Zone VII Director: BeAnn Smith of Hermiston Chapter 10
    • Zone V vacancy: Members in Zone V will be notified of the procedure for filling this vacancy, in accordance with OSEA’s Constitution and Board Policy.
  • Resolutions and budget: 5 resolutions were submitted by OSEA members and went before delegates at Conference. After rigorous debate, delegates took the following actions:
  • Recognition: Conference delegates celebrated the members and chapters who have gone above and beyond to support our union in the last year. Honorees included:
    • Kathie Tagwerker of Eugene Chapter 1 was honored as the 2022 Employee of the Year
    • Kristi Dille of North Clackamas Chapter 71 received the President’s Award
    • Monica McCanna of Harney County Chapter 75 was posthumously named the Government Relations Office (GRO) Member Advocate of the Year, becoming the first OSEA member to receive this award twice
    • 35 chapters were recognized for qualifying for the Membership Incentive Program
    • Sherwood Chapter 103 received the Newsy Award for chapter communications.
