OSEA Seeks Zone VII Director

August 29, 2022 – Do you ever wonder how decisions are made in our union at the state level and who makes them? OSEA is led by our Board of Directors — and right now, we have a vacancy in the Zone VII director position, which represents members from the eastern Oregon area! This opening occurred following the resignation of Zone VII Director BeAnn Smith, who accepted a position outside her bargaining unit in August.

Following the OSEA Constitution, Article IX Elected Officers, and OSEA Board Policy 127, the Board of Directors now has the responsibility of filling the Zone VII director position. The requirements for the position are that you must be a member of an OSEA chapter located in Zone VII and you must have been in good standing for the last 12 months. A zone director job description is linked below.

Serving on our Board of Directors is a great way to support OSEA locally, statewide and nationally. You will be able to work with an incredible group of OSEA leaders to set the course for our union and support our members. If you are interested in serving as Zone VII director, send your letter of interest to President Sarah Wofford via email or mail to OSEA, Attn: President Sarah Wofford, 4735 Liberty Road S, Salem, OR 97302.

Members who submit letters of interest and meet the requirements of the position will be interviewed by the current Board members via Zoom on a date to be determined. After completion of the interview and election by the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be installed and seated on the Board as Zone VII director and serve until Conference 2023 in June. The newly-elected Zone VII director will be expected to attend the Board work session, all committee day, and Board meeting the weekend of September 30, 2022.

If you have any questions about this vacancy or the duties/responsibilities of a zone director, please email President Wofford or Executive Director Susan Miller at (800) 252-6732.
